Designed to be used dry, the powder and pigments create a matte texture. MAC Studio Fix Powder Plus Foundation Summer is a rough season for anyone who wears makeup. Whether you live in dry heat or humidity, your face will feel the effects, especially if you have more oily skin. Mac foundation photo finish. Finding the best powder foundation to help manage this dilemma can also be a struggle.

Where to buy: MAC Cosmetics retail stores and online, Nordstrom, Macy's

Chosen Shade : Medium Plus

I was very excited to try this product from MAC as I am an enormous mineral-foundation fangirl. I have tried everything from Bare Minerals,Everyday Minerals, to drugstore versions such as L'oreal Bare Naturale, Physicians Formula Mineral Wear and Maybelline Mineral Power.

I always order MAC products online, because unfortunately, I have a hard time receiving good customer service in their stores-albeit that is a different story that I will have to tell another day. Anyway, as convenient as online shopping is, the downside is that you can't physically test what your perfect shade would be. I looked up NC30/35 shade equivalents for the mineralize foundation and most people suggested either Medium or Medium Plus. I was a medium dark in the blot powder, so I assumed Medium Plus would be the better shade as medium dark would be too dark.

Upon receiving the product and judging the packaging, my initial impression was that it was going to be too light. During the warm summer months I am NC35, but right now I am in a sort of transitional phase-my neck and face is still lighter than the rest of my body.

I buffed the first layer of this loose foundation onto my face. The coverage is sheer, and seemed to blend onto my skin.

I then buffed a second layer in order to get more coverage, but I realized that the more powder I packed on the darker it became. In terms of fuller coverage, this foundation is definitely a tad darker than my actual shade. Camera skype mac not working.

Medium Plus is going to be darker for NC30 shades.

Under natural lighting/ sun light, I can definitely tell that my face is much more orange and a tad dark than my neck. I then buffed some powder onto my neck and down to my chest to blend the foundation with the rest of my body. I took the photos afterwards, which is why you wouldn't be able to tell that there was a shade discrepancy- which brings me to my next point. The foundation photographs extremely well, despite the SPF in it. Then again, I was wearing a darker shade, so maybe that's why it did not give me a white cast. It also has subtle hints of shimmer, which gives the skin a slightly luminous glow. As someone who has combination-oily skin during the summer, this made my t-zone look quite shiny after a half hour. If you have very oily skin, I would not recommend this product to you.

In summary, this foundation gives sheer to medium coverage, and it seems that no matter how many layers of foundation you put on this one doesn't get cakey. You can wear it on its own, or, you can definitely use it to set your liquid foundation or tinted moisturizer. I definitely recommend this product more for people with dry skin. Despite it making my t-zone look oily, I still like it and I am going to set it with a mattifying powder (like Bare Minerals' mineral veil) to counteract the greasy look.

Before I start I wanted to say sorry for being a bit MIA on the blog. We were dealing with some personal family matters, house construction and my daughter started Kindergarten (insert crying emoji here) Ok back to Makeup lol. PS I am always active on Instagram so please find me there! MAC is bringing back the glow and I am living for it. Back when JLo was a bronze goddess in the early 2000's and everyone wanted to be her I had the MAC loose Iridescent Powder. I would bathe in it and dream I was a bronze goddess just like her. Beyond excited to be able do that again LOL. The MAC Hyper Real Foundation is also making a comeback and it is amazing. I did not own it prior but very happy to have it in my hands now. Lets jump right in!

'A weightless liquid highlighter that imparts a dreamy glow with a refined high-pearl finish' – maccosmetics.com. So yes this is a liquid highlighter and not a foundation. You may be thinking what is the difference between these and strobe cream?! I thought about that too but these are much thicker and pigmented. These offer a bit more coverage and are meant to be seen. Where strobe cream when blended out you truly can not see what shade was used and offers added moisture and glow to the skin. Hyper Real Foundation offers a true highlight look. They are not glittery but offer a strong GLOW. Yes Please!!!!!! Wear under foundation, mixed in or on top of your makeup on your high points! You can even mix in your moisturizer for those no makeup but you want to glow still days. I absolutely love mixing liquid highlighters into my moisturizers. Anyone else do this?

'A finely milled mixture of mica and pigments that gives skin a subtle glaze of color with intense pearl' – maccosmetics.com. These are perfect for the summer or an event for that extra pop of glow on your face and body. Like I said before back in the day when JLo made everyone want to be a bronze goddess I owned the bronze shade. I would use it as a blush topper, on my shoulders, my legs a bit. I was serious when I said I bathed in it LOL. 10 years later would I put this on my face?? With caution because the bronze shade I prefer has more of a glittery look but trust me I will and have been putting it on!!! Bottom line if you are a fan of highlighters and love to glow these two products are ones to look into for sure!!! Also if you are a MAC fan get your hands on these again before they are gone!!!
